Medical Dermapen @ First Health Medical & Skincare Centre

At our centre, we use the ‘Aesthetic Industry’s Number One choice’ – the original and best skin needling device called the Medical Demapen™.

DermaPen™ is the world’s most advanced skin revolutionary micro-needling treatment to date! It tightens, lifts and rejuvenates skin associated with a dramatic surgery. We only use medical grade DermaPen™ with accurate and required micro-needling. This method allows for the penetration of our cosmetic products into deeper layers of skin.

Note: This method can only be used at medical practices for Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

What is Collagen Induction Therapy?

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is accomplished by micro-puncturing the skin with the needles of the DermaPen, resulting in mechanical stimulation of the dermis (deeper layer of the skin). The needles of the DermaPen cause micro-wounds on the skin; these wounds initiate a healing process as the fibroblasts (cells in the skin) begin producing new collagen and elastin fibres. The degree of dermal stimulation depends on the depth and oscillation of the needles. Deep dermal needling significantly increases dermal collagen production and deposition.

What are the benefits of Dermal Needling and CIT?

In medical aesthetic, this technique has been widely used for skin rejuvenation. We use this process in combination with special anti-ageing serums and cocktails containing growth factors, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and other proprietary ingredients. Dermal needling increases penetration of active ingredients into the skin that promotes skin healing and production of collagen.

The procedure of using the Dermapen is commonly known as ‘Skin Needling’ or ‘Collagen Induction Therapy’. This procedure has proven to stimulate new collagen synthesis in the skin to restore smoother, brighter and younger-looking skin.

Numerous, ultra-fine micro-needles penetrate through the epidermis at a perpendicular angle to create microscopic punctures on the skin’s surface using a specialist medical device, for both faster and more precise needle penetration.

New studies have shown that by opening the skin in this way, there is a dramatic increase in the penetration of any topical product used, thereby increasing its efficacy whilst also stimulating the skin’s healing mechanisms to regenerate healthy skin, and ultimately reducing the appearance of wrinkles and scars. .

Dermapen promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime. They can also effectively treat hard-to-reach places (around the eyes, nose and lips).

Dermapen is ideal for treating:

On the day of the procedure, treatment area will be clean and a topical local anaesthetic cream will be apply for 30 to 45 minutes prior to treatment.

After visually dividing the skin into sections (forehead, cheek, nose, chin, upper lip, eyebrow and glabella), the therapist will hold the skin, and with minimal pressure move the medical device over the skin, by using brief, back and forth motions, in all directions, (vertical, horizontal, both diagonals).

Specific areas will be targeted to ensure the entire area receives repetitive needling. The aim is to obtain uniform redness and pinpoint bleeding throughout the skin. The skin will then be cleansed gently and disinfected. Finally, serums such as Hyaluronic Acid (skin’s natural moisturiser), will be applied.
